The use of multi-core processors enables real-time implementations of complex video processing algorithms. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the impact of using multiple cores for parallel processing of multimedia algorithms, for example, from the field of driver assistance systems. Therefore, a standalone demonstrator based on a multi-core processing platform will be implemented. This demonstrator processes a relevant multimedia algorithm in real-time and displays different performance metrics in order to compare the processing performance. The algorithm used in this implementation is the semi-global matching algorithm, that computes disparity maps from stereo camera input.
