The companies Infineon AG, Robert Bosch GmbH, ELMOS Semiconductor AG, BMW AG and Audi AG work as partners on the research project RESCAR 2.0 ("Robuster Entwurf von neuen Elektronikkomponenten für Anwendungen im Bereich Elektromobilität") to optimise the design flow and to integrate more reliable electronic parts in e-cars.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research will support the project in the amount of 6.5 million euros from the funding programme "Schlüsseltechnologien für die Elektromobilität (STROM)".

The IMS is subcontractor of the Infineon AG and will develop methods to manage domain-overlapping constraints.
By contrast to optimisation objectives, the compliance of constraints is essential for the correct functionality of a microchip. Some current tools for chip design of well-known EDA companies already offer their own constraint management systems for the corresponding design domain (e.g. PCB level). Unfortunately these tools don't support either domain-overlapping constraints nor transformation mechanisms to other tools or domains. Such transformation mechanisms would be very useful, because developers wouldn't have to set the same constraints twice or more times during the design flow. New constraints which are important for the current domain, could be derived from existing constraints of other domains. The described methods can also be used to check whether all constraints of the design flow will form a system that is overconstrained.
