Abstract

Video signals are split into high and low signal segments. Intermediate images are generated to double the half image rate. The image content of the input-side half image is converted using a movement vector field to movement phase of an output-side half image. Directional (141,142) median filtering is used to convert the low frequency signal portion while flicker-free median filtering (121,131) is used to convert the higher frequency portion. The half-images are composed of alternate lines and are combined to form a complete image with double the number of lines in the half-image.
