In addition to research and teaching, the IMS offers numerous opportunities to get involved in research and university work.

Future Mobile - "Zukunftsmobil"

[Translate to English:] Zukunftsmobil bei der Ideen Expo, 2022

Under the motto “Study the future!”, the Future Mobile of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has been visiting schools, trade fairs, and similar events since 2012. It has already participated in over 300 events. This mobile facility for recruiting students in the field of electrical engineering and computer science is unique among universities and technical colleges in Lower Saxony and among TU9 universities.

With the help of various interactive experiments, we show prospective students how diverse a degree in electrical engineering or computer science can be. Faculty staff report on their own experiences in study and research. We also show how engineers and computer scientists are helping to shape our future.

INVENT a CHIP

Every year, the IMS takes on the scientific management of the INVENT a CHIP competition.

INVENT a CHIP is a nationwide initiative of the VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) and the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
In 2014, 2,500 students from all over Germany took part in the first round of this competition alone.

Summer Festival 2017 behind the Welfenschloss

At the IMS, students can conduct small experiments as budding researchers, build and program their own robots at the Mind Storms Robot Camp, or complete a school internship. Participation in the Talent Academy is also possible.

The IMS is one of the few institutes at Leibniz University Hannover that offers the opportunity to complete a voluntary scientific year.

The IMS has a booth at the Leibniz University Hannover summer festival every year, where it presents results from its laboratories and entertaining possibilities offered by microelectronic systems.
